Job description

[2025 STUDENT HIRING] Oshawa Esports Attendant

Job Type: Part-Time (8-10 hours per week)

Location: Oshawa

Reporting Manager: Operations Manager

Salary: $18.00

Closing Date: April 25, 2025

Position Summary

This position is for the 2025 academic year and will begin in late August 2025. This position provides front desk support to the newly reopened and revitalized DCSA Esports Lounge.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Be on time and ready to work when scheduled and responsible as a key holder.
  2. Monitor the Esports lounge while on duty.
  3. Check out and complete renewals of equipment to participants.
  4. Process payment through POS system when applicable.
  5. Keep the Esports lounge neat and organized.
  6. Assist in maintaining an updated inventory of video games and systems, equipment, and supplies.
  7. Encourage against misconduct within the lounge; provide verbal warnings to students if they are not following the rules of the space.
  8. Notify the manager of any equipment or repair needs.
  9. Attend regular Esports lounge staff meetings.
  10. Keep an accurate record of hours worked and submit timesheet when due.
  11. Planning, implementation, and review of Esports related events.
  12. Ability to speak and communicate about the DCSA, its values, mission, and services and supporting our front office and event team.
  13. Other duties as assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Must be a currently enrolled full-time Durham College student in good standing.
  2. Knowledge of video games and gaming systems (Console and PC) including their connectivity and capability.
  3. Knowledge of gaming console and PC repair considered an asset.
  4. Knowledgeable about the DCSA.
  5. Knowledgeable about Discord and its functionality.
  6. Knowledge about streaming and stream setup is considered an asset.
  7. Effective communication skills.
  8. The ability to multitask.
  9. An outgoing personality.
  10. Excellent communication skills.
  11. The ability to work in a team and independently.
  12. The ability to solve problems.
  13. Availability to occasionally work nights and weeknights.

Learning Outcomes of Position

  1. Learn to troubleshoot equipment issues and resolve problems that arise in the room, ensuring minimal disruption to participants.
  2. Gain proficiency in managing gaming consoles, sports equipment, and related systems.
  3. Develop strong verbal communication skills.
  4. Event planning, implementation, and review.
  5. Venue management.
  6. Administrative duties.
