[2025 STUDENT HIRING] Marketing Assistant (Marketing/Social Media/Content Creation)

Job Type: Part-Time

Location: Oshawa

Reporting Manager: Operations Manager

Salary: $19.00

Closing Date: April 25, 2025

Job Summary

This position is for the 2025 academic year and will begin in late August 2025. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of social media platforms and a passion for digital marketing. As the Social Media Intern, you will have the opportunity to support the expansion of our social commerce designed to increase follower base and community engagement.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Support channel strategies for platforms including Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, TikTok, and new and emerging platforms.
  2. Input into the social media content calendar.
  3. Ideate and/or create “shareable” reels and videos for approved content and distribute content on appropriate platforms.
  4. Measure the results of social marketing activity and develop channel reports with strong analysis and recommendations, including weekly, monthly, and ad hoc reporting as required.
  5. Inspire and contribute to the team with a unique perspective on social and digital trends.
  6. Actively practice and evangelize audience-centric thinking.

Job Qualifications

  1. Must be a full-time Durham College student during the 2025-2026 academic year.
  2. 0 to 3 years of experience in Marketing, Social Media, Advertising, Business, Journalism, or a relevant field.
  3. Ability to thrive in a team and collaborative setting, contribute and share ideas, and work to ensure the success of the team.
  4. Exceptional interpersonal skills, with the ability to work across diverse organizations and teams.
  5. Strong critical thinking and analytical skills, with a desire to learn on the job in a rapidly changing environment.
  6. Ability to meet deadlines and produce high-quality output.

Learning Outcomes:

  1. Develop expertise in supporting and executing channel strategies for various social media platforms, including Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, TikTok, and emerging platforms.
  2. Gain experience in creating and distributing engaging social media content, such as shareable reels and videos, while contributing to the social media content calendar.
  3. Enhance analytical skills by measuring the results of social marketing activities, developing detailed channel reports, and providing recommendations based on weekly, monthly, and ad hoc analyses.
  4. Build strong collaboration and interpersonal skills by working effectively within diverse teams, contributing unique perspectives on social and digital trends, and practicing audience-centric thinking to engage and expand the follower base.
