Location

The Village of Coleman Care Centre, located in Barrie, Ontario has an exciting opportunity for a CASUAL RECREATION TEAM MEMBER to join their Long-Term Care REC Team.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Completed Diploma or Degree in Recreation Leisure Studies and/or Gerontology from a community college or university.
  • Availability to support every other weekend.
Responsibilities

As a new Recreation Team Member, you will:

  • Have experience working with the geriatric population.
  • Display a caring and respectful attitude toward our residents, families, and team members.
  • Support and embrace our resident-centred social culture.
  • Work as a key member of our Village and neighbourhood multidisciplinary teams to understand residents’ individual needs.
  • Foster exemplary relationships with residents, their families, and the Village team to deliver holistic services.
  • Knowledge of the five domains in Therapeutic Recreation that contribute to an individual’s health.
Preferred Qualifications

It would be an asset if our new Recreation Team Members have:

  • Enrolled in or completed a diploma or degree in recreation/leisure studies and/or gerontology.
  • Knowledge of relevant policies, procedures, legislation, and regulations applicable to the long-term care sector, including the Long-Term Care Homes Act, 2007 and Health & Safety.
  • Experience working with people living with dementia.
