Are you looking for a FUN Summer Job? Or an opportunity where you can make a difference? The YMCA is hiring Art & Science Summer Day Camp Counselors in the Northwestern Suburbs for 2025! Join us for the experience of a lifetime!

The Art & Science Summer Day Camp Counselor provides leadership and planning of specialty STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and math) programs for youth aged 6-13, promoting critical thinking, curiosity, creativity, and communication through hands-on active learning.

Salary range starts at $17.90 per hour, Monday-Friday schedule.

The YMCA is hiring instructors for camps at YMCA Hubs and sites in and around Chicago, including:

  • Buehler YMCA in Palatine, IL
  • Hastings Lake YMCA in Lindenhurst, IL

Minimum and Required Requirements:

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • High school diploma or equivalency; higher education coursework/degrees preferred, especially in STEAM fields.
  • Prior experience with youth; camp experience preferred.
  • Able to carry 50+ lbs.
  • Experience facilitating art or science youth programs.
  • Passion for working with diverse youth and providing high-quality instruction using age-appropriate practices.

Child Abuse Prevention:

  • Report hazards, suspicious behavior, and policy violations to your supervisor.
  • Follow all policies to keep children safe.
  • Complete required child abuse prevention training.
