The Hydrogen Technology Branch (HTB) has a well-established team of professionals and technologists specializing in hydrogen production, energy storage, hydrogen safety, catalyst development, and clean energy technologies. This position will support the hydrogen production portfolio by operating a pilot-scale electrolyser in an industrial plant and collecting and analysing process data.

What you will be doing:

  • Monitoring, operating and maintaining a pilot-scale electrolyser and associated process equipment for hydrogen and synthetic fuel production.
  • Performing routine and regular checks and inspections of the pilot-scale electrolyser and associated equipment.
  • Ensuring safety compliance and following standard operating procedures during the pilot operation and inspections.
  • Recording and analysing process data and providing recommendations on process improvements and optimisation.
  • Running and refining process simulations to fine-tune process conditions of the experimental system.
  • Attending technical meetings and discussions.
  • Writing technical reports to document work.
  • Other duties as assigned by your manager.

What we are looking for:

  • Education & Experience
    • Currently enrolled in at least the first year of study or higher at a college or university of a recognized standing in a suitable program such as Chemical Engineering, Engineering Physics, Instrumentation and Control, or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
    • Comfortable to work independently and in a team environment where frequent and open communication is part of the culture.
    • Proficient with data analysis.
    • Attention to detail, problem-solving skills and self-motivated to achieve high-quality results.
    • Basic knowledge of chemical process systems and control is an asset.
  • Security Clearance Eligibility Required
    • Reliability Status which has a minimum requirement of 3-5 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat's “Standard on Security Screening” and the “Policy on Government Security.”

This student position is specifically located in St. Marys Cement plant (585 Water Street South St. Marys, Ontario N4X 1B6).
