Regional Business Analyst - One Year, Fixed Term Contract

The Ministry of the Solicitor General, Ontario Provincial Police, and East Region are seeking a qualified individual to join our team. In this exciting, rewarding, and challenging opportunity, you will provide operational planning, business analysis, and consulting expertise related to Region and Detachment operations.

About Us:

The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is one of North America's largest deployed police services, with more than 5,800 uniformed officers, 2,400 civilian employees, and 830 Auxiliary officers. We provide essential services that ensure the safety and security of the people of Ontario. The OPP is a division of the Ministry of the Solicitor General, the largest operational ministry in the province, with a presence in every community across Ontario. We are the largest police service in Ontario and the second largest in Canada.

East Region encompasses a diverse territory, from the solitude of Algonquin Park, with trails and waterways including the UNESCO designated World Heritage Rideau Canal, to the heavy traffic and high-profile activities of the Nation's capital. This Region includes several international border crossings with the United States, inter-provincial border crossings with Quebec, and a vast shoreline along Lake Ontario and the St. Lawrence River. It also features two of Canada's largest, growing military bases, Canadian Forces Base (CFB) Trenton and CFB Petawawa.

The Business Analyst provides operational planning, business analysis, and consulting expertise related to Region and Detachment operations.

What you bring to the team
Mandatory requirements
  • Ability to pass an OPP background/security investigation.
  • Must possess a valid Ontario Driver's License.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of tools and techniques used in project management and the ability to apply project management processes, approaches, and methodologies to recommend or propose solutions on Regional/Detachment projects.
  • Knowledge of research and analytical methods and techniques, and planning processes to conduct or facilitate research and analysis.
  • Proficiency with computer applications and software, including MS Office Suite and database management, to prepare documents, reports, presentations, and to research and retrieve data.
  • Strong written communication skills to summarize research findings, prepare reports, issues notes, decision notes, business cases, and presentations.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate with Regional/Detachment managers, support their needs, manage conflicting deadlines, develop business cases, and present information to senior managers and stakeholders.
  • Analytical skills to evaluate, analyze, and creatively design assessments and reports.
  • Good judgment and decision-making skills to determine research scope, consult with stakeholders, and evaluate performance and improvement opportunities.

  • Position: 1 English Temporary, up to 12 months, located at 525 Queen St, Smiths Falls, East Region. Criminal Record and Judicial Matters Check required.
