Position: Lands Registry Clerk

Department: Lands and Housing

Employment Status: Contract – 15 Months

Salary: $31.34 – 37.46 /HR – 35 Hours per Week

Location: Naughton, ON

Closing Date: July 30, 2025, at 4pm

POSITION SCOPE:

The Lands Registry Clerk is to ensure the land registration if applicable the land transaction request are processed and registered into the First Nation Land Registry and or into the Indian Land Registry Office, at Ottawa and to ensure all First Nation land requests are registered in the First Nation Lands Registry system.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A Degree related to Property Administration, Law, Business or Resource Management have an understanding of the Indian actbe conversant with the land appraisal process

OR

  • A diploma in Real Property Administration (Assessment and Appraisal) have an understanding of the Indian actbe conversant with the land appraisal process

OR

  • A certificate in Indigenous Peoples Resource Management plus two years ' experience as a Lands Registry Clerk.

OR

  • A diploma in a law, business or office administration or related field with three years or more experience in law, business or in an administration office

OR

  • Have a minimum of five years' experience as Lands Registry clerk for a First Nation community

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Respond to a variety of client requests
  • Prior to receiving documents, plans and surveys, conduct a preliminary check as required, to ensure documentation is properly filled out
  • Administer, coordinate, and process all aspects of land applications, this involves the entire process from accepting various applications up to and including registration of document in the First Nation Registry and Indian Land Registry Office
  • Itemize all lease revenues
  • Ensure all legal documents for Indian Lands Registry are properly formatted for registration purposes
  • Maintain a list of payments received for leases
