Position: Summer Support Worker

Department: Social Services

Employment Status: Contract (Approx. 2 months)

Salary: $25.29/HR – 35 Hours per Week

Location: Naughton, ON

Closing Date: June 16, 2025, at 4pm

POSITION SCOPE:

Atikameksheng Anishnawbek is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Summer Support Worker to support individuals in the Jays Care Baseball setting and other summer camp programs and activities, reinforcing learning and retention concepts.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Working towards or holding a diploma in Early Childhood Education, Developmental Service Worker, Educational Assistant, Child and Youth Care Worker, or related field.
  • Valid Ontario Class ‘G’ Driver’s License with a clean driver’s abstract.
  • Vulnerable Sector Check.
  • First Aid and CPR with AED Certification.
  • Flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Positive role model with knowledge of child and youth development.
  • Excellent problem-solving and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to maintain privacy and confidentiality.
  • Ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with program participants, parents, and caregivers
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Atikameksheng Anishnawbek traditions and culture.
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist baseball participants in developing social, life, and learning skills.
  • Recognize and respond effectively in emergency situations by activating the Emergency Action Plan (EAP)
  • Work with Community Physical Activities Program Worker and volunteers to address concerns.
  • Document all incidents and/or injuries.
  • Supervise participants during activities and field trips.
  • Document incidents and injuries.
  • Maintain a safe workspace.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This role involves outdoor work in varying weather conditions, physical activity, and interaction with community members of all ages. Travel within the community and surrounding areas may be required.
