School Mathematics Coach / Facilitator

Overview:

The Peterborough Victoria Northumberland and Clarington Catholic District School Board is seeking one (1) qualified full-time, centrally assigned School Mathematics Coach to work out of the Clarington region, with travel throughout the Board's jurisdiction and beyond as required. This position reports to the Superintendent of Learning / Mathematics and focuses primarily on supporting primary / junior students (K-6).

Role Description:

We are looking for a teacher who will assist at the school level in planning and delivering exemplary Mathematics programs. The successful candidate will facilitate professional learning within an assigned group of schools through collaboration, demonstration, mentoring, and coaching. Candidates must be proficient in computer technology, have at least five years of successful teaching experience, and be committed to Catholic education. Experience in facilitating professional development sessions is preferred. The role includes advancing the Board's vision of creating a culture of faith, hope, and love to promote equity and well-being.

Responsibilities and Expectations:
  • Support classroom teachers in implementing effective instructional, assessment, and evaluation practices, especially in Numeracy;
  • Facilitate staff development through school and system-level professional learning;
  • Assist with the implementation of Learning Support Services objectives;
  • Facilitate collegial professional learning as a co-learner;
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent of Learning / Mathematics.
Qualifications:
Required:
  • Primary and/or Junior division;
  • Mathematics Part 1 AQ or Primary / Junior Mathematics;
  • Minimum of five (5) years successful teaching experience in Ontario.
Preferred:
  • Math Specialist preferred;
  • Special Education Part 1 preferred;
  • School-based or system-based leadership experience;
  • Strong commitment to fostering a Christian community based on Catholic Faith;
  • Expertise in instruction and assessment in Mathematics;
  • Understanding of adult learning principles, collaboration, facilitation, and presentation skills;
  • Proven classroom excellence;
  • Excellent presentation, organizational, and communication skills;
  • Valid Driver's License and willingness to travel within the jurisdiction and beyond.
Additional Information:

The salary and working conditions align with the current collective agreement between the Board and OECTA-PVNC Unit.

Teachers appointed to a centrally assigned position will have their previous position filled by a permanent teacher, with the right to return within two years, subject to the surplus process. Declaring intent to return is due by April 30.
