EMERGENCY SUPPORT STAFF

Daily Occasional or Long-Term Assignment

Hours of Work: Casual/Call-in basis, Monday-Friday from September to June

Rate of Pay: EA
Daily Rate: $23.28 per hour + vacation pay

ECE Daily Rate: $22.69 per hour + vacation pay

Start Date: As soon as possible

Emergency support staff fill in for daily unfilled absences of Educational Assistants and Early Childhood Educators across our elementary and secondary schools. Successful applicants will indicate preferred schools and will be set up through an automated callout system for assignment notifications.

Responsibilities include:

1. Monitoring students indoors and outdoors during non-classroom break periods
2. Supporting students during instructional time
3. Assisting in conflict resolution through positive communication and problem-solving
4. Communicating with teachers or administrators as needed
5. Upholding the school's code of conduct and safety policies
6. Performing other related duties as required

Qualifications:

1. Minimum Secondary School Diploma; related post-secondary education or ongoing training (e.g., EA, SSW, DSW, CYC, ECE) preferred
2. Experience working with children
3. Ability to ensure student safety and security
4. Effective communication skills with students, staff, and parents/guardians
5. Willingness to work with students of varying needs and capabilities
6. Teamwork skills
7. Ability to handle confidential information appropriately
8. Current training in behaviour management systems (e.g., BMS, NCVI, CPI) is an asset
