Job description

School District No. 57 is seeking applications from qualified candidates for the position of:

School Psychologist (1.0 FTE Limited Duration)

School District No. 57 serves approximately 13,000 students in 39 schools across a large geographic area, making it one of the largest employers outside of the lower mainland.

Description

The School Psychologist functions as part of a multidisciplinary team to enhance the educational and social functioning of students in the district.

Specific Responsibilities
  • Conduct psychological assessments for students with educational and social difficulties to develop intervention strategies and determine appropriate program placements.
  • Consult with school and district staff on designing, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating intervention measures.
  • Provide written reports on formal casework.
  • Collaborate with teachers, principals, and administrators on policy and program development.
  • Deliver in-service training sessions for teachers, parents, and professionals to develop their skills and knowledge.
  • Conduct and disseminate research relevant to student needs.
  • Identify when referrals to other professionals or outside agencies are necessary.
Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree in Educational Psychology with practicum experience.
  • Eligibility for registration with BC College of Psychologists or certification with BC Association of School Psychologists.
