Job summary

A leading catering company is seeking a 1st Cook for Northern Manitoba remote camp operations. The ideal candidate will have previous cooking experience and a Food Safe certificate. Responsibilities include meal preparation, coordinating kitchen staff, and maintaining cleanliness. The position offers a starting wage of CAD 19.50 per hour, with all meals and accommodations provided. A 2-week on/1-week off rotation ensures a great work-life balance, and access to off-site amenities will be provided.

1st Cook – Northern Manitoba Remote Camp Operations

Compensation: from CAD 19.50 per hour.

Job Type: Full-time.

Key Responsibilities

• Handle preparation, production and timely service of breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks per approved methods and standards.
• Prepare meals according to client scheduling, menu plan and budget guidelines.
• Produce adequate quantities per production quotas.
• Prepare food close to consumption time; supervise portioning of meals on serving line to ensure specified amounts.
• Coordinate all kitchen staff involved in preparation and serving.
• Follow proper storage and rotation procedures for all food supplies.

Qualifications

• Previous cooking experience required.
• Current Food Safe certificate.
• Large‑scale camp cooking experience is an asset.
• Red Seal or other relevant certifications are an asset.
• Experience accurately producing weekly inventories is an asset.
• Previous experience supervising a team preferred.
• High standards in maintaining a clean and organized kitchen.
• Ability to complete a criminal background check.
• Physical capability: lift, carry, push or pull up to 50 lbs; climb ladders or stairs; stand, walk, squat, kneel or sit for extended periods; perform repetitive hand work; use arms at full length; work with arms above shoulder height.

Work Schedule & Remuneration

1st Cooks work on a rotational schedule of 2 weeks on/1 week off. Site locations are remote, requiring air travel or ground shuttle. Work may include nights, weekdays, weekends, and holidays. Wages are paid hourly with a starting rate of $19.50 per hour.
