Under the direction of the Youth Prevention Service Manager, the Youth Support Services Worker is responsible for supporting the safety and well-being of youth in care that are in Ready Set Go (RSG) and Mikinaak Youth Service Agreement (MYSA) in their successful transition out of the child welfare system into adulthood up to the age of 26. The YSSW will help youth to develop and pursue their goals, and will support them to identify, access, and navigate adult service systems relevant to their specific needs. The YSSW will support youth connect to existing supports and resources within their communities including housing supports, education resources, employment services and training, life skills training (e.g. financial management, household management), health and mental health services, and legal services. The Youth Support Services Worker will assist youth and young adults to connect to internal and external services and resources including (re) connection with land, culture, language & community. Youth Support Services Workers are aimed to help prioritize safety and support through the assistance of a service provider that can help navigate inclusive and individual well-being journey.
