Job description

Position Overview:

Under the direction of the Clinical Services Manager, the Psychometrist carries out duties as a member of a multi-disciplinary team within the Clinical Services Program. The Psychometrist will work collaboratively with all Health and Wellness Programs, to continually assess current program delivery, recommend and participate in new strategies in order to facilitate changes that will enhance client care. The Psychometrist must have experience and a strong interest in working with Anishinabek people. Responsibilities include administering psychological tests to children, youth, adults, families, and affiliated First Nation communities; as well as providing counselling services, case management navigation, regular travel to First Nation Communities and providing support to programs within the Agency as required. Clinical supervision will be provided by one of the Agency’s Psychologists. The Psychometrist must be able to conduct themselves with professionalism and in compliance with the CPA Ethical Guidelines. The Psychometrist will ensure the provision of cultural and clinical best practices that are consistent with the vision, mission and core values established by Dilico Anishinabek Family Care.

Qualifications:

  • A Masters level degree in the content area of Psychology. An undergraduate degree in Psychology and relevant experience will also be considered.
  • Three years’ experience in children’s mental or a related field of practice as a Psychometrist.
  • Demonstrated skills in the assessment and treatment of children and adolescents with emotional, social, behavioural and learning problems.
  • Knowledge of legislation governing children and adolescents in the Province of Ontario (Child and Family Services Act).
  • A high standard of professionalism, demonstrating skills necessary to participate in and contribute to a multidisciplinary team process.
  • Satisfactory Criminal Records Search, including a Vulnerable Sector Search.
  • Ability to work flexible hours as determined by the Clinical Services Manager in relation to service requirements.
  • Must possess a Class “G” Driver’s License and have access to a personal vehicle.
  • A valid Standard First Aid/CPR Certificate is recommended.
  • Complete and maintain certification relevant assessment tools; must maintain professional registration.
  • Must complete a medical and receive the required immunizations as recommended by the local medical officer of health.
