Position Overview:

Under the direction of the District Mental Health and Addictions Services Manager, the District Family Preservation Coordinator leads the work of a team of Family Preservation Workers, while carrying a reduced caseload. Primary responsibilities include case management, the coordination of intake, assessment and the implementation of family preservation strategies.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum HBSW or related degree with four years child/family counselling experience is required. An MSW is preferred.
  • Minimum of four (4) years direct service and counselling with children, adolescents and families.
  • A combination of training and successful experience in working with the Anishinabek people, culture, communities, traditions, and teachings.
  • Significant experience in family intervention and/or group facilitation.
  • Satisfactory Criminal Records Search; including a Vulnerable Sector Search.
  • A valid Standard First Aid/CPR Certificate is required.
  • Work flexible hours, according to the needs of families.
  • Travel substantially in communities in and around the District of Thunder Bay.
  • Work in the homes and locations familiar to client families.
  • Possess a valid Class “G” Driver’s Licence, and have access to a personal vehicle; carry satisfactory liability insurance.
