10-Month Permanent Laboratory Instructor

The School of Physical and Health Education in the Faculty of Education and Professional Studies at Nipissing University invites applications for a ten-month permanent Laboratory Instructor. This position is full-time and will begin on August 1, 2025. This position is located in North Bay, ON.

  • A minimum of a master's degree in physical and health education, kinesiology, or a closely related field
  • A PhD in physical and health education, kinesiology, or closely related field is preferred
  • Post secondary teaching experience and/or lab instruction experience is required

Skills:

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Evidence of teaching effectiveness
  • Familiarity with health sciences related software
  • Proficiency working with a computer
  • Experience with exercise physiology and biomechanics laboratory techniques, equipment, and safety protocols
  • Candidates should have knowledge in one or more of the following areas: anatomy, biomechanics, exercise physiology, exercise assessment and prescription, motor control, and/or clinical assessment

Position Summary:
Laboratory Instructors play an integral role within their department or school, contributing to the academic, professional, and collegial environment of the university. This position is focused primarily on teaching, with opportunities for professional development and service. The role includes:

  • Teaching (80%) – Delivering high-quality classroom and laboratory instruction.
  • Scholarly, Professional, or Innovative Practice (10%) – Engaging in activities that enhance subject knowledge and professional expertise.
  • Service (10%) – Contributing to the university, the broader professional field, and/or the wider community through academic service.

The annual salary will correspond with qualifications and experience and will follow the Nipissing University Faculty Association (NUFA) Full-time Academic Staff Bargaining Unit Collective Agreement.
