Mount Royal University's Learn English for Academic Purposes (LEAP) program is looking to add qualified instructors to our flexible instructor pool for Fall 2026 and future teaching opportunities.


We are looking for an experienced EAL instructor who enjoys working with adult learners in a post-secondary environment and is comfortable teaching academic English to students from diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds.


The role includes:



  • Teaching engaging, student-centred EAL lessons aligned with the LEAP curriculum and course syllabus.

  • Supporting students' academic listening, reading, speaking, and writing skills.

  • Preparing lessons and supplementary materials.

  • Assessing student learning and providing feedback.

  • Maintaining course materials and grades in the LMS.

  • Collaborating with other LEAP instructors and participating in relevant program meetings.

  • Providing student support related to the assigned course.


Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree

  • Recognized TESL Canada certification

  • Five or more years of EAL teaching experience in a post-secondary setting

  • Experience teaching academic English to adult learners

  • Strong knowledge of language teaching and assessment

  • Comfort using educational technology and learning management systems

  • Strong intercultural communication and collaboration skills


This is a flexible, assignment-based position, with future teaching opportunities dependent on program enrolment and instructional needs.
