Job description

Royal Bay Secondary School. 1.0 TERM Carpentry - Trades Awareness, Skills and Knowledge (TASK) Teacher. Effective immediately to June 30, 2026, or the return of incumbent, whichever is earlier, in whole or in part.

Position Description

The Trades Awareness, Skills and Knowledge Carpentry Program (C-TASK Program) is a dual credit trades awareness program designed in collaboration with the Camosun College South Island Partnership. The teacher will team teach with a college instructor two days a week as well as coordinate specific industry certification sessions and lead field excursions to experience local trades sites and craftspeople. Training, understanding and the ability to apply differentiated instruction in a classroom & advisory environment will be valuable. The teacher will provide theoretical classroom instruction and the practical application of building construction methods in areas such as carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and drywall. There is the possibility of providing academic course work/support as part of the TASK program. This program is also supported by Skilled Trades BC in addition to SIP and requires the teacher to be a collaborative partner supported by our District Career Ed team.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Education (Secondary) or Post Degree Program in Education (Secondary) and
  • Technology Teacher Education Diploma or Red Seal Certificate – Journeyperson Carpentry or Construction Craft Worker or related academic preparation

The starting annual salary for this teaching position ranges from $58,635 to $106,217, with placement on the range based on length of service and qualifications in accordance with the collective agreement. We also offer a competitive benefits package and pension.
