1.0 Temporary Educational Assistant

North Region Flex - Under 90 days

Effective Immediately until the return of the employee

Location: North Region: North Bay, Sturgeon Falls, Mattawa, and Surrounding Communities

Regional Flex Role: Reporting to the Principal of Special Education, this itinerant position involves providing direct support to high-needs students with various exceptionalities, transitioning into the region mid-year or moving between programs or settings. School placements will be determined by the Special Education Coordinators and Principals. A valid Driver’s License and reliable vehicle are required.

Qualifications:

• Two-year post-secondary certificate or diploma in the social services field

Knowledge/Skills Required:

• Experience working with various student exceptionalities, including but not limited to: medically complex, autism, developmental disabilities, and physical disabilities
• Broad knowledge of support strategies such as ABA (Applied Behavioural Analysis), Behaviour Management Systems, CPS (Collaborative Proactive Solutions), and Augmentative Communication
• Ability to support students in transition and/or implement programming in consultation with classroom teachers, the central behavioural support team, and therapists (speech, sensory, occupational, physiotherapy)
• Knowledge and respect for Indigenous teachings and culture
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a school-based team

Rate of Pay: $20.80 per hour plus 4% vacation and applicable statutory holiday pay
