CUPE 1165-2 Custodial & Maintenance Employees

The Near North District School Board is hiring for the following position :

1.0 Permanent Licensed Maintenance - Plumber

Location : East / West Regions, including Parry Sounds, Sundridge, and surrounding areas

Effective Immediately

Qualifications :

  • Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent
  • Valid Class G Driver's License with access to reliable vehicle
  • Clear, current Driver's Abstract
  • WHMIS certification
  • Knowledge of building codes, provincial regulations, and occupational health and safety regulations
  • OWWA Cross Connection Control Specialist Certification (asset)
  • Working from Heights Certificate (asset)

Required Knowledge and Skills :

  • Install, replace, update, and maintain plumbing systems, fixtures, piping, and related components
  • Maintain hydronic heating systems, including valves, pumps, piping, and wiring
  • Collaborate with Maintenance Staff and Contractors under supervisor guidance
  • Maintain compressed air systems, laboratory gas piping, valves, and controls
  • Coordinate with external Contractors and review their work as directed
  • Estimate costs, manage inventory, and order parts and equipment
  • Maintain equipment, tools, vehicles, and ensure a safe, clean work environment
  • Respond to emergency situations outside regular hours
  • Maintain professional appearance and attitude
  • Read blueprints, schematics, and perform cost estimations with problem-solving skills
  • Understand general construction and maintenance processes
  • Work independently and in team settings, demonstrating interpersonal and communication skills
  • Basic computer skills
  • Work from plans, drawings, and verbal instructions
  • Perform physical tasks such as climbing, lifting, and working at heights

Rate of Pay :

31.26 to $32.69 per hour

Hours of Employment :

7 : 30 am to 4 : 00 pm (flexible)
