Job description

Job Summary: The successful candidate will be responsible for working with students with Special Needs (specifically physical and intellectual disabilities and behavioral or other learning difficulties). The Educational Assistant, as a professional and integral member of the school team, is responsible for providing academic, physical, and emotional support to students with exceptional needs within the school to encourage student independence and the development of their individual talents. This position works 33.83 hours per week; schedule to be determined by the Principal.

Skills and Qualifications

• Relevant training (e.g., Behaviour Management Systems Training - BMS)
• Experience working with students with Special Needs and those exhibiting severe behavioral/emotional difficulties
• Proven ability, experience, and skill in teamwork
• College Diploma or University Degree in a related field, or an Educational Assistant Apprenticeship Certificate
• 2-3 years of prior experience with Special Needs students
• Exceptional interpersonal skills in dealing with children and adolescents
