0.889 FTE Core Grade 6 / 7 Teacher

Shuswap Middle School

This is a temporary assignment effective September 1, 2025 to June 30, 2026

Qualifications :

  • Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Education (Middle or Secondary training)
  • Valid BC teaching certificate and current membership in the Teacher Regulation Branch.

Teachers applying for this position should possess the following attributes :

  • demonstrated successful teaching experience with middle school aged students;
  • current knowledge of the Grade 6 / 7 curriculum;
  • ability to comfortably work with and respond to a very involved parent community;
  • demonstrated ability to use a variety of current instructional strategies and assessment methods;
  • evidence of ability to effectively use current assessment practices;
  • demonstrated ability to use effective teaching practices in relation to the three principles of learning;
  • evidence of ability to motivate middle school students;
  • committed to stimulating student interest and confidence in learning;
  • ability to create a sense of belonging for students;
  • excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work as a member of a grade level team and the entire Shuswap Middle School team;
  • understanding of middle school philosophy and adolescent development;
  • understanding of restitution practices;
  • commitment to involving parents in the learning of their children.
