0.35 FTE Continuing part-time (Okanagan Language) nsyilxcen Language Instructor at Merritt Secondary, beginning September 1, 2025.
0.35 FTE Continuing part-time (Okanagan Language) nsyilxcen Language Instructor at Merritt Central Elementary, beginning September 1, 2025.
Required Qualifications
- Be a speaker of the nsyilxcen L anguage.
- Possess a First Nations Language teacher certificate for nsyilxcen Language or be eligible for this certificate.
- Have a good understanding of Syilx culture.
- Training and experience working with grade-level students.
- Experience with adapting materials, resources, assessments and learning outcomes for student needs.
- Valid BC Teaching certificate or eligible for Letter of Permission.
Preferred Qualifications
- A commitment to supporting a variety of learning needs.
- Experience/training in supporting the social-emotional learning needs of students.
- Committed to establishing and maintaining positive relationships with students, staff and parents.
- Committed to working as a member of a school team in support of students.

Nicola-Similkameen School District has received approval from the Human Rights Tribunal allowing preferential hiring to persons of Indigenous ancestry. The starting annual salary for this full-time teacher position ranges from $60,090 - $109,520 , with placement on the range based on length of service and qualifications in accordance with the collective agreement.
