Volkswagen do Brasil is seeking a Buyer to manage the interface between the company and suppliers, ensuring a continuous supply of materials and components for production while optimizing procurement costs. You will work within the Purchasing and Procurement department in Taubaté, Brazil.

The role requires completing a degree in Industrial Engineering or Business Administration with procurement focus, several years in strategic procurement in automotive/EMS, and fluency in German and English.

Brief Role Description

Employees who globally procure goods, materials, equipment, services, and capital goods in order to ensure the supply.

The Automotive Buyer manages the interface between the company (OEM or supplier) and its suppliers. They ensure the continuous supply of materials and components required for production while optimizing procurement costs.

Possible Tasks within this role

• Strategic sourcing of electronic components and assemblies (active and passive components, semiconductors, and assembly-related parts)
• Establishing, managing, and continuously improving collaboration with external manufacturing partners and EMS (Electronics Manufacturing Services) providers
• Advising the R&D/Engineering department on the selection of suitable manufacturers, taking into account market trends, risk assessments, and supply reliability
• Negotiating and concluding pricing, supply, and framework agreements with manufacturing service providers
• Supplier contract management, including commercial terms negotiation, supplier evaluation, service level agreements (SLAs), quality requirements, and change management
• Risk and opportunity management, considering supplier risks, multi-sourcing strategies, and obsolescence management
• Supporting cost structure optimization and value engineering through cost profiling and total cost of ownership (TCO) analyses, as well as identifying cost‑saving opportunities through component and supplier substitution
• Close collaboration with Engineering, Quality, Logistics, and Legal departments, as well as with external manufacturing service providers

Qualification requirements

• Completed degree (e.g., Industrial Engineering, Business Administration with a focus on Procurement/Supply Chain Management) or a comparable qualification
• Several years of experience as a Strategic Buyer in the automotive, aerospace, and/or electronics/EMS (Electronics Manufacturing Services) industry
• In‑depth expertise in electronic components, electronic assembly manufacturing, and supply chain management within an outsourced manufacturing environment
• Strong management skills with a high degree of results orientation
• Excellent negotiation skills, assertiveness, and strong communication abilities
• Confident professional presence and strong teamwork skills
• Structured and organized working style with a strong ability to prioritize effectively
• Fluency in German and English, both written and spoken
