Position Summary
Carry out sewing in the various departments and other finishing work, preparing machines and products, operating sewing machines in series assembly, prepare the technical data sheet for prototypes, recording information, consumption of trims and other materials used in the process, organizing the workplace in accordance with safety standards and technical procedures for quality, safety, health and the environment.
Responsibilities & Specific Accountabilities
- Multiplier of work procedures.
- Organize sewing machines according to the production program.
- Clean machines.
- Identify machine accessories for each type of part assembly operation.
- Organize supplies needed for sewing parts according to specifications.
- Organize parts for sewing according to a pre-established method.
- Measure parts using measuring instruments (ruler, tape measure, measuring tape, templates).
- Identify types of threads according to technical specifications.
- Identify types of needles suitable for the material and supplies according to specifications.
- Change needles.
- Thread different types of sewing machines.
- Change machine accessories for each type of part assembly operation.
- Adjust machine accessories for each type of part assembly operation.
- Adjust the machine stitch for each type of sewing, fabrics, leather, and nonwoven fabric;
- Check the machine's oil level.
- Identify the necessary adjustments and settings of the machines for making samples.
- Identify the devices needed for the new piece.
- Identify the pieces that are outside the quality specifications.
- Sew pilot pieces and samples according to technical specifications.
- Perform the operational sequence of new products.
- Sew pieces in fabric, leather and fur articles according to pre-established standards.
- Correct the stitch adjustment (stitch size and thread tension).
- Control the elasticity of the seam.
- Replace needles due to tip wear, warping and breakage.
- Adjust devices during the sewing process.
- Identify sewing defects related to the machine's mechanics.
- Control the time and reason for unproductive hours.Assist in finishing and packaging the pieces.
- Comply with safety, health and occupational medicine standards, as well as company procedures and standards.
- Create prototypes in the R&D department for due approval.
- Prepare the technical data sheet for prototypes, recording detailed information, including the consumption of trims and other materials used in the process.
- Perform other related activities as requested by your immediate superior.
Education
Functional Literacy
Job Experience
- It is recommended to have 2 years of experience.
- Experience in tailoring, especially in the making of men's suits and jackets, will be considered an asset, as well as knowledge of construction techniques like those used in protective clothing.
