  • Oversee the end-to-end delivery of a software engineering team.

Position Overview:
Our client is looking for a Team Lead for the Software Engineering squad, to oversee the end-to-end delivery of a cross-functional team, collaborating closely with the Product Owner to plan, achieve desired outcomes, and report the results of the software engineering team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Earns recognition for delivering high-quality and impactful technical contributions within their primary tech stack.
  • Collaborates closely with Product and Development counterparts to proactively identify and address risks, including technical and architectural debt, system downtime, data security issues, and execution challenges.
  • Actively promotes and participates in the design review process, holding accountability for system designs within their team.
  • Assumes responsibility for the consistent tracking and reporting of all deliveries as well as Non-Functional Requirement (NFR) metrics for their team, while coaching their team to ensure operational sustainability in this endeavour.
  • Ensures predictability, quality, and efficiency in their team's deliveries, while keeping Product and Development counterparts updated on any relevant changes.
  • Monitors and adjusts the team's pace to instil a sense of urgency for success while safeguarding against burnout.
  • Collaborates with Product and Development counterparts to ensure the provision of technological context during the specification, planning, or prioritization of complex features.
  • Guides the process of transforming complex projects into individual responsibilities and collaborates with each team member to formulate their detailed execution plans.
  • Actively participates in cross-team technical and delivery initiatives, taking a lead role within their own teams.
  • Proactively imparts knowledge to other teams in their pod and offers support through workshops and advisory sessions.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in Agile/XP Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) practices and adjusts them as needed to align with project requirements.
  • Mentors multiple engineers, primarily Software Engineers I and Software Engineers II.

Qualifications:
  • At least 8 years of experience in software engineering.
  • Proficiencywith Java language, as well as with JavaScript/ TypeScript, cloud services (AWS/ GCP/ Azure), and on-prem systems.
  • Proven track record in development of microservices / Service oriented Architecture (SOA), and APIs/ web services integration.
  • Experience in team leadership/ mentoring roles, including the implementation of agile development methodologies.
  • Hands-on knowledge of Continuous Integration / Continuous Deployment automation & orchestration.
  • Knowledgeof Software Development Lifecycle and IT security standards.
