Typical Day / Responsibilities
- Lead a customer‑centric team of associates and accelerate their seasonal tax business by managing a single H&R Block tax office.
- Act as the front‑line manager: provide leadership, development, and oversight of tax office associates, ensuring an outstanding client experience and achievement of office growth objectives.
- Partner with the District General Manager to create and implement office‑level growth plans, including local partnerships and community involvement.
- Recruit, interview, and onboard tax office associate candidates.
- Serve as the point of contact for onsite escalated client concerns and resolve scheduling conflicts.
- Lead daily activities to ensure work is completed on time, with quality standards and overall goals met.
- Build an engaging team environment through training, coaching, and recognition of associate contributions.
- Lead daily team meetings and communicate essential information.
- Create associate work schedules, manage accurate timekeeping, and oversee overtime.
- Prepare tax returns as required and conduct timely performance reviews.
- Partner with the Associate Relations Center to resolve associate issues and address performance concerns.
Qualifications
- 2+ years as a Tax Professional.
- Multi‑unit people management experience in retail, restaurant, banking, or related industry.
- Successful completion of the H&R Block Tax Knowledge Assessment or Income Tax Course.
- High school diploma or equivalent (or higher).
- Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Passionate, determined, and resilient with a customer‑centric mindset.
- Flexible work schedule and adaptability to business needs.
- Computer proficient with MS Office.
- Annual completion of continuing education and compliance with IRS and applicable state requirements (if preparing tax returns).
Expertise & Requirements
- Experience in customer service, shift leadership, or similar supervisory role.
- Successful completion of the H&R Block Tax Knowledge Assessment or Income Tax Course.
