Job Description

We are seeking an experienced, detail-oriented Tax Manager to join our growing team. This industry position offers better work/life balance than public accounting, and provides learning opportunities to continue growing. The Tax Manager will lead the transformation in bringing the tax function in house. The role ensures adherence to local, state, and federal tax law, manages audits, and supports the company’s strategic tax planning initiatives. The Tax Manager also leads, mentors junior tax teammates, partners with cross-functional teams, and identifies opportunities for process improvement and tax efficiency.



This position allows for remote work and requires travel for business meetings. Candidates must be based in the Eastern or Central time zones (EST/CST) to be considered. Our corporate office is located in White Plains, NY.



Key Responsibilities


  • Manage the preparation and review of federal, state, and local income tax returns, including extensions and estimated payments. Tax returns are primarily partnerships, with some corporate filings (Forms 1065 and 1120).

  • Review tax provisions (ASC 740) and ensure accurate financial statement reporting.

  • Develop and implement tax planning strategies to minimize tax liabilities and support business objectives.

  • Manage and coordinate tax audits and respond to inquiries from tax authorities.

  • Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of tax laws, regulations, and accounting standards; assess their impact on the company.

  • Collaborate with finance, legal, and business units to ensure proper tax treatment of transactions.

  • Supervise, train, and develop tax team members.

  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance accuracy and efficiency.

  • Support special projects such as mergers and acquisitions (M&A) due diligence, indirect tax, and transfer pricing, as needed.



Qualifications


Education & Certifications


  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.

  • CPA or JD required, Master’s in Taxation a plus.



Experience


  • 5–8 years of progressive tax experience, preferably with a mix of public accounting and industry. Experience working with overseas teams a plus.

  • Experience with private equity backed partnerships with a high volume of tax returns preferred.

  • Strong understanding of partnership taxation. M&A and corporate tax experience a plus.

  • Experience with tax and accounting software (e.g., OneSource, CCH Axcess, Corptax, or similar) and ERP systems. Workday experience a plus.
