Akaer in Brazil seeks a Systems Engineer I – Thermal Systems & Process Engineering to support development, modeling, and analysis of thermal systems and process plants for high-technology programs. You will build mathematical models, run simulations, size equipment, and document results across the full product lifecycle.

You will work with multidisciplinary teams including Systems Engineering, Design, Integration, Testing, and Product Development to translate requirements into robust analytical

Qualificações

  • Experience in modeling and simulation of thermal systems.
  • Ability to size pumps, heat exchangers, and process equipment.
  • Documentation of engineering analyses and reports.
  • Familiarity with PFDs and P&IDs.

Responsabilidades

  • Develop theoretical models for thermal systems and process plants.
  • Create mathematical models for thermal and fluid analyses.
  • Perform heat transfer and thermodynamics calculations.
  • Select and size cooling/heating equipment and pumps.
  • Prepare PFDs and P&IDs and associated lists.

We are looking for a Systems Engineer I – Thermal Systems & Process Engineering to support the development, modeling, and analysis of thermal systems and process plants for high-technology engineering programs. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing mathematical models, performing system performance simulations, sizing process equipment, and preparing engineering documentation, contributing throughout the entire product development lifecycle—from concept development to solution validation.

The position offers the opportunity to work in a multidisciplinary environment alongside Systems Engineering, Design Engineering, Integration, Testing, and Product Development teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop theoretical models for the simulation of thermal systems and process plants;
  • Develop mathematical models for thermal and fluid flow analyses;
  • Develop heat transfer models using thermal resistance methodologies;
  • Select and size thermal equipment, including pumps, compressors, and auxiliary machinery;
  • Select and size heat exchangers and other process equipment;
  • Prepare Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs);
  • Develop, review, and interpret Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs);
  • Develop and maintain Process Line Lists;
  • Specify industrial instrumentation and process components;
  • Prepare engineering reports and technical documentation;
  • Participate in technical design reviews and support engineering decision-making;
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams in the development and integration of technical solutions.
Requirements
Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Thermal Sciences Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
Experience
  • Experience in the development, analysis, or simulation of thermal systems and process plants.
  • Experience may have been acquired through industrial projects, research and development activities, or engineering design environments.

  • Selection and sizing of pumps, compressors, and thermal equipment;
  • Selection and sizing of heat exchangers;
  • Preparation and interpretation of Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs);
  • Preparation and interpretation of Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs);
  • Development of Process Line Lists;
  • Preparation of engineering technical documentation.
  • Product Development Process;
  • Systems Engineering principles applied to product development;
  • Multidisciplinary systems integration;
  • Interpretation of engineering standards and technical specifications;
  • Engineering analysis and problem-solving.
Tools

Experience with the following tools is desirable:

  • Microsoft Office.

  • Development of complex PFDs and P&IDs;
  • Applied thermodynamic modeling;
  • Research and Development (R&D) environments;
  • High‑complexity engineering projects.
Languages
  • Advanced English, with strong reading, writing, and technical documentation skills.
  • Excellent written communication in English is required.
Availability
  • Availability for domestic and international travel, when required;
  • Willingness to work different shifts, according to business needs.
