As Sustainability Coordinator at COFCO International, you will play a central role in implementing the company’s sustainability strategy across Brazil, one of our most important origins.

You will work closely with our global sustainability leadership, commercial, and operational teams to drive responsible sourcing, strengthen supplier engagement, and support the transition toward more sustainable and traceable agricultural supply chains.

You will report to the LatAm Sustainability Manager, and you will have one or more direct reports.

This role offers a unique opportunity to operate at the intersection of global sustainability policy, commercial strategy, and local implementation, helping to connect COFCO International’s sustainability vision with the realities of our business, customers, and suppliers in Brazil and Latin America.

Responsibilities
Strategy and Implementation
  • Coordinate the execution of COFCO International’s sustainability strategy across Brazil, ensuring alignment with regional and global priorities.
  • Support the development and delivery of local sustainability projects, goals, and KPIs in line with company-wide objectives.
  • Implement and monitor the COFCO International Responsible Agriculture Standard with suppliers and partners.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant sustainability regulations and frameworks, including EUDR, CSDDD, and CSRD, and support internal system adaptations where necessary.
Stakeholder and Partner Engagement
  • Serve as a key sustainability focal point for COFCO International in Brazil, engaging with traders, commercial teams, suppliers, and customers to integrate sustainability into business decisions.
  • Build and maintain partnerships with industry peers, associations, NGOs, governments, and financial institutions to promote responsible and sustainable practices.
  • Represent COFCO International in sector forums, multi-stakeholder platforms, and external events on sustainability-related topics.
Certification, Traceability, and Risk Management
  • Coordinate sustainability certification programs and supply chain traceability initiatives across all commodities in Brazil.
  • Support audits, due diligence processes, and external requests related to sustainability, human rights, and responsible sourcing.
  • Identify, monitor, and mitigate sustainability-related risks, working closely with global and regional teams.
Reporting and Communication
  • Contribute to internal and external sustainability reporting, including the COFCO International Annual Sustainability Report and other internal and external disclosures including to shareholders and lenders.
  • Promote internal communication and training on sustainability topics, including human rights, climate change, and community engagement.
  • Ensure clear, consistent communication of sustainability achievements and progress to both internal stakeholders and external partners.
Collaboration and Support
  • Work closely with the Global Sustainability team, the Latin America leadership, and commercial units to ensure strong integration of sustainability into business strategy.
  • Support budget management and resource planning for sustainability projects.
  • Actively connect sustainability and commercial opportunities, helping identify market differentiation and customer value driven by sustainable practices.
Profile
  • Degree in Environmental Sciences, Agronomy, International Relations, or a related field.
  • Solid experience in sustainability or responsible sourcing within agribusiness, commodities, or related industries.
  • Strong understanding of sustainability standards, certification systems, and traceability mechanisms.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and cultures.
  • Professional fluency in Portuguese and English; Spanish and Chinese are an advantage.
