What You'll Achieve at SANS

We are seeking a Speaker & Content Managerto join our Summit team. This role plays a key part in working closely with the NALT Summit team and each of the different SANS Curriculum as they develop, and coordinate content in the NALT regions for a series of cybersecurity conferences/summits. The Speaker & Content Manager will be responsible for curating, coordinating, and managing speakers for our events and platforms. This role will involve working closely with speakers to ensure the content they deliver aligns with our objectives and resonates with our target audience.

The Speaker & Content Manager is responsible for working with the defined summit teams to guide the development of Summit content, presentation, workshops, agendas, etc. to build world class summit events. This included curating keynote speakers, managing the Call for Presentations (CFP) processes, working closely with the Summit advisor board during presentation selection and managing speakers as they are selected or rejected. Detailed responsibilities include:

The ideal candidate is an energetic, highly motivated self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced environment and can work independently with minimal supervision. This is a highly visible role that requires exceptional professionalism, communication skills, relationship building, schedule management and attention to detail.

This position requires travel within the United States to attend and manage speakers at 8-10 SANS Summits throughout the year. When not traveling, the role is remote and requires a disciplined, self-motivated individual who can remain productive and engaged while working from a home office and in a virtual team environment.

As a Speaker & Content Manager, you will:
  • Work with Summit Chairs and Advisory Board members to define Call for Presentations (CFP)
  • Manage the CFP process from initiation through speaker selection.
  • Communicate with speakers who are rejected. Communicate with internal teams including the Sponsorship team on selected and rejected speakers to allow for potential sponsorship revenue opportunities.
  • Manage selected speakers, collecting headshots, bios, presentation titles, abstracts and other required details.
  • Create speaker profiles and agenda through web platform.
  • Coordinating with SANS web team and marketing to have Summit agenda added to the summit website
  • Work closely witch Summit Chairs & Curriculum to define and manage the delivery schedule of hands-on labs and workshops.
  • Coordinate speaker mentorship with summit advisory board members.
  • Design and maintain an active database of biographical data, headshots, and evaluation feedback for Summit speakers.
  • Organize and conduct pre-Summit briefings with speakers, covering Summit logistics, audience demographics, and any specific AV requirements.
  • Coordinate the collection of presentation materials, reviewing them to ensure they meet Summit standards and are technologically compatible.
  • Provide administrative support including data entry of event feedback, creation of registration records, and maintenance of databases.
  • Create and maintain key support documents for events such as a run-of-show for on-site team and prepare handbooks for speakers.
  • Conduct or participate in ongoing team status meeting, being prepared to discuss any issues or concerns that require the attention of the Summit Team or Summit Management.
  • Onsite speaker support, AV walk through and tech checks.
  • Domestic travel to 7-10 in-person summits annually. Most summits will require 3-4 travel days.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
What We're Looking For
  • 3+ years of professional experience with speaker or event management. Experience in cybersecurity is a plus.
  • Undergraduate degree or relevant experience in communications, marketing, project management or business operations
  • Possess excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to travel to 7-10 Summit events per year to provide on-site content support in North America
  • Possess strong critical thinking, project management, and time management skills, with the ability to be flexible and solutions oriented as well as lead and manage projects simultaneously on deadline
  • Ability to work effectively in a remote environment with a global team
  • Unrestricted authorization to work in the USA; visa sponsorship is not available.
