What you will do

You’ll help design, build, and scale Modak’s backend systems that power our financial ecosystem. You’ll work closely with product and engineering teams to deliver secure, reliable, and performant APIs. Your work will include integrating external partners, improving internal systems, and mentoring peers — always with a focus on quality, scalability, and customer impact.

Key responsibilities include:

• Building and maintaining scalable API services and integrations.

• Promoting engineering excellence through testing, documentation, and mentorship.

• Experience designing and running large-scale, distributed systems.
• Strong knowledge of at least one backend language (Go, Java, Python, or .NET)
• Basic understanding of REST APIs and eagerness to learn how to design and build good ones.
• Familiarity with relational or document databases, and interest in learning more about building scalable systems.
• Curiosity about secure systems development (e.g., encryption, authentication, compliance).
• Interest in learning about financial systems, payments, or related domains (banking concepts like reconciliation, transactions, accounting are a plus, not a requirement).
• Enthusiasm for problem-solving and advocating for customer needs.
