Job summary

Lever, Inc. is seeking a Software Engineer to join our backend-focused team. You will work on client-facing components within a microservices architecture, primarily using Java and REST APIs, with a modern stack including Snowflake and AWS.

You will scale systems to meet growing demand, ensure regulatory compliance in new regions, and productionalize market-validated features, while embracing agile processes and a collaborative culture.

Qualifications

• 3 to 6 years on a development team.
• Proficient in Java with openness to new tech.
• Experience delivering reliable, high-performance REST APIs.
• Strong interest in database and query performance tuning.
• Experience with Snowflake and AWS is a plus.
• Familiar with SCRUM/agile development and code reviews.

Our system is composed of a retreating monolith surrounded by a growing collection of micro-services. Within this system, you and the dev team will be responsible for building and maintaining client-facing components. The current tech stack consists of experience with modern frontend frameworks like Vue or React. If you're hungry to learn, humble, and interested in winning as a team, we think you'll do well here. What's most important is that you love your work, respect the team and don't lose your sense of humor along the way.

Responsibilities:

• Scale our system to meet increasing global demand
• Meet regulatory compliance requirements in new regional markets
• Productionalize and roll-out new market-validated features

Qualifications:

• 3 to 6 years of working experience on a development team.
• Proficient in Java while comfortable with adopting new technologies.
• Experience delivering reliable, high-performance REST APIs.
• Strong interest in database & query performance tuning.
• Experience with Snowflake.
• Good understanding of scrum/agile development methodologies.
• Experienced with code reviews, service ownership, fully automated testing, micro-services, and rapid/continuous releases.
• Experience working with AWS or equivalent.
• Comfortable with being on-call for support and interacting directly with clients if needed
• Experience mentoring junior developers.
• Aptitude for learning new things quickly and the confidence and humility to ask clarifying questions.
• Proactive, self-motivated, transparent, accountable, and communicative.
• Supportive in building a positive and inclusive work culture.
