Job summary

Nextpower seeks a Software Application Engineer to build software tools, test automation scripts, GUIs, and application-level solutions for power conversion systems. You will collaborate with Firmware, Electrical, Controls, Systems, and Test teams to automate validation, configure monitoring, and analyze data.

The role requires strong Python skills, GUI development, and experience with CI/CD, Git, and AI-assisted tooling.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related field.
• At least three years of professional experience developing software applications, engineering tools, or automation scripts.
• Strong programming skills in Python and experience with object-oriented programming.
• Experience developing graphical user interfaces using PyQt, PySide, Tkinter, or equivalent.
• Experience with Git and software development workflows.
• Experience using AI-assisted software development tools, with the ability to review and validate generated code.
• Familiarity with CI/CD concepts and tools such as Azure DevOps.
• Experience working with communication protocols, APIs, data logging, and automated testing.
• Ability to troubleshoot software and hardware integration issues.
• Experience developing web applications or embedded web interfaces.
• Knowledge of embedded systems, microcontrollers or firmware development.
• Knowledge of Docker, Linux, databases, data visualization, or cloud-connected systems.
• Knowledge in automated report generation and engineering data analysis.
• Knowledge of cybersecurity principles for industrial or embedded systems.
• Experience with Jira or similar tools.
• Good written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Ability to work collaboratively with distributed and cross-functional engineering teams.

• Promote best practices related to code quality, cybersecurity, maintainability, and software reliability.

Position Overview
