Descrição da oferta de emprego

TRM Labs is a blockchain intelligence company committed to fighting crime and creating a safer world. By leveraging blockchain data, threat intelligence, and advanced analytics, our products empower governments, financial institutions, and crypto businesses to combat illicit activity and global security threats. At TRM, you'll join a mission-driven, fast-paced team made up of experts in law enforcement, data science, engineering, and financial intelligence, tackling complex global challenges daily. Whether analyzing blockchain data, developing cutting-edge tools, or collaborating with global organizations, you'll have the opportunity to make a meaningful and lasting impact.

We are seeking a Senior Payroll & Tax Analyst who will play a critical role in ensuring compliance, accuracy, and scalability across TRM’s payroll and tax infrastructure. As a fully remote, global company operating across multiple U.S. states and international jurisdictions, TRM faces complex payroll tax requirements that demand specialized expertise. This is an ideal role for someone who thrives in fast-paced environments, has a meticulous eye for detail, and is energized by building efficient, compliant processes that reduce risk and improve employee experience.

The Payroll & Tax Operations Specialist will join a high-performing Finance team that leads with ownership, accountability, and a commitment to excellence. You’ll work cross-functionally with HR, Finance, and Legal to deliver timely and accurate payroll, resolve tax issues, and implement process improvements that scale with TRM’s growth. This role is critical to maintaining compliance, ensuring employees are paid correctly and on time, and supporting broader corporate tax needs.

The impact you will have:
  • Own payroll operations end-to-end: Review and finalize payroll within 48 hours of cut-off, consistently achieving <1% error rates and 100% on-time processing across all pay cycles.
  • Ensure tax compliance: Manage multi-state payroll tax filings, resolve tax notices within 5 business days, and complete monthly reconciliations with no material variances to support Finance’s accurate reporting.
  • Support corporate tax activities: Contribute to broader tax compliance needs, including preparation of tax provisions and support for federal, state, and indirect tax (e.g., sales tax, VAT) obligations.
  • Drive process and automation improvements: Identify and implement workflows or automation enhancements annually to reduce manual work, minimize compliance risk, and improve scalability.
  • Partner cross-functionally: Provide timely, accurate data and reporting to HR and Finance (e.g., headcount reports, tax provisions, employee tax queries) while maintaining strong relationships and high partner satisfaction.
What we’re looking for:
  • 4+ years of payroll operations and payroll tax compliance experience, ideally in a SaaS or high-growth, multi-state environment.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. federal and state payroll tax regulations; exposure to indirect taxes (e.g., sales tax, VAT) strongly preferred.
  • Experience with payroll systems and tax platforms; ability to support a system transition (we will be moving off IBP) and optimize workflows for scalability.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy, paired with an ownership mindset and ability to manage 3–4 concurrent payroll/tax priorities without delays.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience performing reconciliations and identifying root causes of variances.
  • Clear, proactive communicator who builds trusted relationships with cross-functional stakeholders and resolves issues quickly.

That said, TRM may not be the right fit for everyone. If you\'re optimizing for work life balance, we encourage you to:

  • Ask your interviewers how they personally approach balance within their teams, and
  • Reflect on whether this is the right season in your life to join a high-velocity environment.
