Reporting to the Vice President Manufacturing Americas & Global Goodyear Production System, the Senior Director Manufacturing Latin America will be responsible for the implementation/execution of the operational and manufacturing strategies across the region. This position will ensure full alignment to the global and regional manufacturing strategies/objectives - Delivering the right tire at the right cost with the highest levels of quality and driving overall efficiency through the adoption/utilization of the Goodyear product system, while operating as a zero-harm culture for our associates and the environment. This includes full accountability for the operations and results of the tire manufacturing plants across the Latin America region.

The incumbent will drive business performance in terms of safety, quality, cost, delivery and culture through strong cross-functional interaction with the plant and global teams (including, but not limited to, Quality, Manufacturing Engineering, Environmental, Health and Safety [EHS], Supply Chain, Human Resource [HR] and the Goodyear Product Systems). In partnership with plant leadership, he/she is responsible for driving culture and engagement initiatives to foster an environment and mindset of high performance, continuous improvement, collaboration and people development.

Goodyear has 8 manufacturing plants and retreading facilities across the region, including Brazil, Mexico, Peru, Colombia and Chile.

Manufacturing Strategy
  • Responsible for deploying the overall LA Manufacturing direction, strategy, targets and key performance indicators (KPIs) that are aligned to the global/regional manufacturing strategy and through the product creation process (PCP)
  • Support and provide input into the global manufacturing footprint optimization strategy through managing start-ups, shut-downs, adjustments of product lines by plants, etc.
  • Drive and support capital planning needs to improve safety, improve flow, increase quality and reduce costs
  • Collaborate with global/regional counterparts to drive "One Goodyear Way" through plants
Manufacturing Performance
  • Owner of the end-to-end delivery of tires across Latin America
  • Responsible for the manufacturing KPIs and deliverables regarding safety, quality, cost, delivery, culture, service, new product industrialization (NPI), etc.
  • Development of action planning to close gaps and drive improved performance
  • Lead cross-functional teams (as needed) to continuously improve and leverage best practices to enhance overall performance within the plant(s)
  • Lead the adoption and utilization of the Goodyear product system's processes and best practices to drive operational maturity

  • Create and support a culture of success where safety and quality are embraced as a value, by modeling behavior, driving life‑saving practices and knowledge/adherence to our global standards and specifications
  • Build and develop the organization, teams and individuals towards business success through ensuring they have the tools, training and resources to do their jobs effectively and efficiently

  • Provide coaching, counseling and performance management of associate population
Travel
  • Frequent travel of up to 60-70% to plants for on‑site presence to drive engagement, high performance and continuous improvement
  • Monitor performance to drive accountability

  • Global/Regional Manufacturing and Supply Chain Leadership – Vision, strategy, planning, alignment, performance
  • Manufacturing Human Resources/Labor Relations – Review contract/negotiate issues, plant procedures

  • Plant Leadership/Teams – Planning and execution of strategy/performance, updates, accountability
  • Suppliers/Customers – Evaluate supplier capabilities, industry/customer expectations, field knowledge/performance
  • Unions – Education around improvements and competitiveness
Key Experience
  • 15 or more years of experience in key leadership roles in a manufacturing and operations organization
  • Experience leading expansion, transformational efforts and lean manufacturing concepts across a large footprint
  • Demonstrated turnaround and change management experience in building a high performing team and culture
  • Experience in managing at intersection between Manufacturing, Research and Development (R&D) and Sales
  • Experience working in global/regional/plant positions - Desired
