Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Data Engineer with strong expertise in data architecture,data engineering, data analysis, reporting, and a basic understanding of data science techniques and workflows. They are an Agile learner, possess strong problem-solving skills, work as partof a technical, cross functional analytics team, and want to solve complex data problems and deliver the insights to enable analytics strategy. Data Engineer will work closely with a multidisciplinary Agile team to build high quality data pipelines driving analytic solutions. These solutions will generate insights from the organization'sconnected data, enabling the organization to advance the data-driven decision-making capabilities of the organization's enterprise.
Essential Functions
Main Accountabilities
- Solve complex data problems to deliver insights that helps the organization's business to achieve their goals
- Create data products for analytics and data scientistteam members to improve theirproductivity
- Mentor and coach other data andanalytic professionals on data standards andpractices
- Foster a culture of sharing, re-use, design for scalestability, and operational efficiency of data andanalyticalsolutions
- Lead the evaluation, implementation and deployment ofemerging tools and process for analytic dataengineeringin order to improve the organization'sproductivity as ateam
- Develop and deliver communication and educationplans on analytic data engineering capabilities,standards, andprocesses.
- Partner with business analysts and solutions architectsto develop technical architectures for strategicenterprise projects andinitiatives.
- Learn about machine learning, data science, computervision, artificial intelligence, statistics, and/or appliedmathematics
- Ensure timely analysis and testing for regular maintenance of solutions over time

- Leads technical discussion across other data Engineer to ensure best practices, approaches and implementation.
Key Relationships, Stakeholders & Interfaces
- Stakeholders of this role include Data engineers, BSA, MLE, product owners and main business stakeholders.
- Helps train/upskill members of the team in Data engineer Tools/techniques and provides high quality solution(s) to the product owners.
Knowledge and Technical Competencies
- Can help business structure the data solution.
- Proficient in SQL and data analysis and experience with at least one programming language (Python or Scala preferred)
- Conceptual understanding of data mesh
- Develop business awareness of possible use cases
Education/Experience
- PhD in STEM field with research experience in Data Science or experience Post graduate degree in STEM field with 3-5 years experience as Lead Data Engineer
- Expertise in SQL and data analysis and experience with at least one programming language (Python or Scala preferred)
- Experience developing and maintaining data warehouses in big datasolutions
- Experience with developing solutions on cloud computing services and infrastructure in the data and analytics space (preferred)
- Database development experience using Hadoop orBigQueryand experience with a variety of relational, NoSQL, and clouddatabasetechnologies
- Conceptual knowledge of data and analytics, such as dimensional modeling, ETL, reporting tools, data governance, datawarehousing, structured and unstructureddata.
- Big Data Development experience using Hive, Impala, Spark and familiarity with Kafka (Preferred)
- Familiarity with the Linux operating system (Preferred)
- Exposure to machine learning, data science, computer vision, artificial intelligence, statistics, and/or appliedmathematics
- Passionate about Agile software processes, data-driven development, reliability, and experimentation
- Experience working on a collaborative Agile product team
- Self-motivated with strong problem-solving and learning skills
