Engagement: Independent contractor / PJ
Location: Remote, based in Brazil
Expected duration: 3–4 months
Start date: As soon as possible
Language: English required for professional communication
Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Senior Data Engineer to support the next phase of a Snowflake modernization initiative focused on FP&A and financial data. This individual will be responsible for building and implementing a governed Snowflake data architecture that transforms data from NetSuite, Salesforce, and CCL into standardized, conformed, and certified financial data products consumed by Alteryx, Tableau, Anaplan, and the Data Hub. This is a highly hands-on role requiring strong Snowflake, SQL, data modeling, data quality, reconciliation, lineage, and financial-data engineering experience.
Key Responsibilities
Snowflake Data Engineering
- Build and enhance the Snowflake data architecture across RAW, staging/standardization, conformed, curated/certified, and consumption layers. Develop reusable transformation logic for finance and commercial data.
- Build conformed dimensions including GL accounts, subsidiaries, cost centers, accounting periods, currencies, customers, and related cross-system mappings.
- Develop certified financial datasets supporting financial actuals, P&L, ARR, and related FP&A reporting. Maintain source fidelity and lineage from NetSuite, Salesforce, and CCL through downstream Snowflake data products.
Financial Data & Reconciliation
- Build reconciliation controls across period, subsidiary, accounting book, GL account, and reporting basis.
- Develop automated checks for unmatched accounts, invalid periods, duplicate records, missing mappings, and material financial variances.
- Partner closely with Finance and FP&A stakeholders to validate totals, drill-downs, exceptions, and reporting comparability before production release.
- Support development of certified ARR datasets, including customer/account mappings, currency treatment, ARR calculations, and waterfall reporting.
Data Quality, Testing & Governance
- Implement automated data quality, freshness, reconciliation, and transformation testing.
- Establish run logging, monitoring, ownership, and exception-handling processes.
- Maintain technical lineage between source data, transformations, certified products, and downstream consumers.
- Support controlled deployment and promotion across development, test, and production environments.
- Work within role-based access, masking, service identity, and least-privilege security standards.
Consumer Migration & Integration
- Analyze existing Alteryx workflows, including formulas, joins, filters, inputs, outputs, and scheduling, and migrate appropriate transformation logic into governed Snowflake components.
- Support Tableau migration toward stable semantic views and regression-test reporting output.
- Validate Anaplan integrations, including grain, planning periods, versions, FX basis, and data extracts.
- Support parallel runs comparing legacy and new outputs, documenting and resolving variances prior to cutover.
Required Qualifications
- Strong hands-on experience with Snowflake and advanced SQL.
- Experience designing and building layered enterprise data architectures and reusable data models.
- Strong understanding of dimensional and financial data modeling.
- Experience creating data transformation pipelines, automated testing, reconciliation controls, and production monitoring.
- Experience working with financial/ERP datasets, ideally NetSuite or comparable GL/ERP platforms.
- Experience integrating CRM and commercial datasets such as Salesforce.
- Understanding of FP&A concepts including actuals, P&L, accounting periods, FX/currency, ARR, and financial reconciliation.
- Experience supporting downstream BI, analytics, or planning platforms.
- Strong troubleshooting skills across complex data dependencies and transformation logic.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Alteryx, Tableau, and/or Anaplan.
- Experience modernizing environments where business logic is distributed across SQL views, BI tools, and workflow platforms.
- Experience designing governed or certified data products.
- Familiarity with RBAC, masking, service accounts, and Snowflake security practices.
- Experience supporting finance modernization, FP&A, close/reporting, or recurring revenue analytics.
What This Person Will Deliver
The core outcome is a production-ready Snowflake finance foundation that moves critical FP&A data from source systems into standardized, conformed, certified, and consumable data products.
Initial priorities include:
- Financial Actuals / Income Statement – Conformed GL, period, subsidiary, cost center, currency and actuals models that reconcile to approved Finance controls.
- ARR Data Product – Governed customer/account mappings and certified ARR datasets supporting ARR reporting and planning.
- Data Quality & Reconciliation – Automated tests, source reconciliations, run logs, monitoring and exception handling.
- Consumer Migration – Safely transition selected Alteryx, Tableau and Anaplan workloads to governed Snowflake outputs while protecting existing reporting continuity.
