Job summary

SAP is seeking a Senior Application AI Engineer and Data Scientist to join the Globalization E-Invoicing Unit in Brazil. You will design and deploy AI-powered distributed systems, focusing on scalable architectures and efficient RAG pipelines.

You will lead multi-agent workflows, build evaluation frameworks, and optimize latency, throughput, and cost. Strong skills in ML, deep learning, and governance are essential.

Senior Application AI Engineer and Data Scientist - Globalization E-Invoicing Unit

• Full-time

What you'll bring

You have deep experience in distributed systems and scalable application design, with strong hands-on skills in LLMs, advanced RAG patterns, and agentic workflows. Strong experience in performance optimization, cost management, and troubleshooting complex production systems is essential. Experience designing evaluation frameworks for AI systems, validating model behavior, and applying agentic engineering patterns is critical. Technical leadership and mentoring ability are also part of what you'll bring.

You bring applied data science depth to complement that engineering foundation: a working command of applied statistics and machine learning, including deep learning, foundation models, and semantic retrieval. Feature engineering, model training and monitoring, and the ability to reason rigorously about data quality and model behavior are part of your toolkit. Embedding ethical AI, governance, and data privacy into the systems you build is part of how you approach the work.

Hands-on experience with SAP BTP is a plus, along with development skills (Node.js, Python, or similar). Familiarity with e-invoicing is a plus, or the ability to ramp up fast on domain-specific formats.

What you'll build

You will design and build systems and components for applications that use AI. This includes creating advanced RAG pipelines. It also involves developing multi-agent workflows. Evaluation and benchmarking frameworks to measure AI system quality, reliability, and performance are things you'll build and own. You'll optimize latency, throughput, and cost efficiency across systems. You'll partner with platform, data, and AI teams to design robust, production-ready solutions and improve system integration. System scalability, resilience, and maintainability are areas you'll continuously work to strengthen.

You'll take end-to-end technical ownership of critical systems and contribute to engineering excellence across the team. Mentoring less-experienced engineers, guiding design and code quality, and building strong technical capabilities within the team are all part of the role.
