Exadel is seeking a Data Engineer in São Paulo to build and optimize production-grade data pipelines, transforming data from multiple sources and enabling analytics across critical business use cases.

The role focuses on Scala and Apache Spark, with emphasis on data modeling, data quality, and observability. The position offers hybrid work in Brazil and opportunities to collaborate across engineering and analytics teams.

Qualificações

• Proven experience building and operating production-grade data pipelines.
• Advanced knowledge of SQL, including complex queries and data transformations.
• Professional experience developing with Scala.
• Hands-on experience with Apache Spark or a similar distributed data processing framework.
• Strong understanding of data modeling and analytical data structures.
• Experience implementing data quality and data validation practices.

Responsabilidades

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable, production-grade data pipelines.
• Transform, integrate, and model data from multiple sources to support analytical and business use cases.
• Develop and optimize data processing solutions using Scala and Apache Spark.
• Design and implement reliable data models following modern data engineering and analytics best practices.
• Implement automated data quality, testing, monitoring, and observability practices.
• Troubleshoot production issues, investigate root causes, and optimize pipeline and platform performance.
• Collaborate closely with Data Engineers, Software Engineers, Analytics teams, Product teams, and other stakeholders.
• Take ownership of technical solutions throughout the full lifecycle, from design and development through production support.

What You’ll Do

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable, production-grade data pipelines.
• Transform, integrate, and model data from multiple sources to support analytical and business use cases.
• Develop and optimize data processing solutions using Scala and Apache Spark.
• Design and implement reliable data models following modern data engineering and analytics best practices.
• Implement automated data quality, testing, monitoring, and observability practices.
• Troubleshoot production issues, investigate root causes, and optimize pipeline and platform performance.
• Build reliable and maintainable solutions with a strong focus on scalability, efficiency, and operational excellence.
• Collaborate closely with Data Engineers, Software Engineers, Analytics teams, Product teams, and other stakeholders.
• Take ownership of technical solutions throughout the full lifecycle, from design and development through production support.
• Leverage AI-assisted development tools to accelerate coding, testing, troubleshooting, documentation, and other engineering activities while applying sound technical judgment.
• Contribute to engineering best practices, technical standards, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Produce technical documentation and support knowledge sharing across engineering teams.

What You Bring

• Professional experience in Data Engineering or Analytics Engineering.
• Proven experience building and operating production-grade data pipelines.
• Advanced knowledge of SQL, including complex queries and data transformations.
• Professional experience developing with Scala.
• Hands‑on experience with Apache Spark or a similar distributed data processing framework.
• Strong understanding of data modeling and analytical data structures.
• Experience implementing data quality and data validation practices.
• Strong troubleshooting and production support experience.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
• Experience working in collaborative, cross‑functional engineering environments.
• Good communication skills and ability to clearly communicate technical concepts and solutions.

Nice to have

• Experience with Lakehouse architectures.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and modern software engineering practices.
• Knowledge of Data Governance principles and practices.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform.
• Experience working with large‑scale data platforms and distributed data processing environments.
• Experience with data observability and monitoring tools.
• Experience with automated testing for data pipelines.
• Familiarity with modern AI‑assisted development tools and workflows.
