NAVVIK is seeking a Second Engineer to join our offshore fleet in Brazil. The role reports to the Chief Engineer and oversees the operation of main and auxiliary engines, thrusters, and related equipment while maintaining compliance with SMS, ISM, and class requirements.
Responsibilities include supervising engine room activities, coordinating maintenance plans, and ensuring safe, efficient performance for offshore operations.
We are looking for a Second Engineer who reports to the Chief Engineer and is generally responsible (not limited to) for the operation of main and auxiliary engines, thrusters, and maintenance of other equipment under their responsibility, ensuring compliance with the Chief Engineer's instructions, current legislation, class requirements, and the Company's Management System.
The role involves supervising operations, ensuring economic efficiency, ensuring that work is performed safely and with an environmental mindset. Additionally, the position coordinate and control the team's daily work plans, to maintain constant communication with management and other onboard functions to ensure operational quality.
The Second Engineer is responsible for supporting the Chief Engineer in the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of the vessel's engineering systems. The role includes supervising the operation and maintenance of main and auxiliary engines, generators, pumps, hydraulic systems, thrusters, and other engine room equipment, while ensuring the availability and reliability of critical systems required for offshore operations.
The Second Engineer supervises the engine room team by allocating tasks, monitoring work execution, and ensuring compliance with established procedures and safety standards. The position is responsible for planning and monitoring preventive and corrective maintenance activities, maintaining accurate records in the vessel's maintenance management system, and monitoring the operational performance of engines and associated equipment.
The role also includes supporting AHTS operations when applicable, overseeing the management, receipt, and inventory control of fuel, lubricants, water, and other consumables in accordance with company procedures, and ensuring compliance with the Safety Management System (SMS), ISM Code requirements, applicable legislation, classification society requirements, and environmental standards.
In addition, the Second Engineer participates in training exercises, emergency response activities, and onboard drills, maintains accurate technical and operational records, and promptly reports equipment failures, risks, or abnormal conditions to the Chief Engineer. The position is also responsible for ensuring that all engine room activities are performed safely and in accordance with the company's SMS and established working procedures.
