The Functional Engineer will collaborate with the Solution Architect, Product Owners, Enterprise Architects, Business leads/users, and various internal IT teams to continue to help K‑C be an industry leader in this space as it supports our business. The Functional Engineer is the go‑to person for all functional expertise and performs leading‑edge work and develops innovative approaches/solutions. This role is seen as an expert in complex application environments, encompassing business process. As a recognized subject matter expert, the person is a functional leader and will mentor others in the organization. The Functional Engineer also provides broad work direction to their colleagues and other corresponding IT functions helping build a robust SAP system.

Scope/Categories

Role will report to the Platform Manager, Enterprise Order Fulfillment - Customer Solutions. Role will not have any direct reports. Key Interfaces: Business Partner, Business Analyst, Project Manager, Enterprise Architect, Business Client, Internal DTS teams and other software developers. External Interfaces: DropShip vendor teams and external vendors.

Travel may include approximately 10% of work time.

Main responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain custom ABAP programs, reports, interfaces, conversions, enhancements, and forms (RICEF).
  • Collaborate with functional consultants and business stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
  • Support data migration, system integration, and cutover activities related to the spin‑off.
  • Optimize and troubleshoot existing ABAP code to ensure performance and reliability.
  • Participate in unit testing, debugging, and documentation of technical specifications.
  • Ensure compliance with SAP development standards and best practices.
  • Help solution Architects to provide solution & strategy development.
  • Execute technical work for medium to large projects for a specific business capability which can span across multiple capabilities.
  • Accountable for leading the overall design, including the detailed configuration that takes into account how to structure a segment solution based on requirements from the business, global and regional views, as well as the design of standard software configurations.
  • Delivers solution delivery blueprints including but not limited to application diagrams, physical architecture, process diagrams, systems maps, service interfaces, technical interfaces, data modeling, integration planning.
  • Translates non‑functional and functional requirement into solution designs, ensuring solution aligns with business goals and processes, uses and provides enterprise information consistently, integrates effectively with other applications, supports a common application environment and user interaction model, uses the common technology platform, and achieves enterprise level security, quality of service and scale.
  • Makes sure that the solution fits within enterprise context, while also ensures solutions align with business goals and processes, and follow Kimberly‑Clark IT Standards and Best Practices.
  • Participates in Community of Practice forum with other Solution Engineers at Kimberly‑Clark.
  • Contributes to the evaluation and selection of software product standards.
  • Participant in industry representation, policy formation, User Groups, and strategic direction.
  • Provides coaching and leadership to junior system software developers through enhancements and projects.
  • Works well with varying levels of Business and IT Professionals.
  • Able to communicate technical information in a non‑technical manner to Business team (written and verbal).
  • Able to understand business requirements to turn into technical specification solutions.
  • Stay abreast of latest technologies in his/her functional space, consistently growing in knowledge and industry trends.
Key Qualifications and Experiences
Mandatory
  • Mandatory to have excellent fluency in English; both written and verbal communication skills.
  • Candidate will be regarded as SME and should have high level of expertise in SAP - SD component.
  • Strong ABAP skills, with complex troubleshooting experience.
  • SAP Order‑to‑Cash end to end expertise required (SD).
  • EDI and Idoc experience highly preferred.
  • Experience in software engineering, software development, solution architecture and able to develop a High Level Design (HLD) and ideally with ability to deliver Low Level Designs within area of expertise.
  • Experience in highly integrated complex data environments e.g. EDI/ BI/ ETL, ERP etc, and open to working in a multitude of SAP and NonSAP applications and technologies.
  • Candidate should possess high level of consultative skills and have prior experience of collaborating with Business Analysts and Solution Architects in solving complex business problems with innovative technical solutions.
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Minimum 7‑10 years IT professional work experience.
  • Possess strong leadership skills and exhibit creative thinking to be able to come up with inventive solutions to solve business challenges.
  • Self‑motivated and self‑starting on work. Drives work of others.
  • Strong Technical leadership of Application Development teams and vendors.
  • Strong understanding of SDLC processes and methodologies.
  • Excellent collaboration skills and can quickly cultivate networking opportunities within the organisation at varying levels of Business and IT Professionals.
  • Broad range of business and IT experiences; Has achieved technical and/or business certification(s).
  • Ability to work in a virtual team across distance (remote) cultures and time zones, in a matrix with multiple reporting lines, with on‑shore and off‑shore resources, and may extend outside the K‑C organization including suppliers, partners and customers.
