Eve Air Mobility seeks a Safety Engineer to support the development of its eVTOL program and integrated aerospace systems. You will lead safety assessments and work with Systems Engineering, Certification, Software, and Hardware teams to ensure safety objectives and certification compliance throughout the product lifecycle.
The role emphasizes evaluating complex multi-system interactions, defining safety requirements, and interfacing with certification authorities to drive compliance with ARP
We are seeking a highly motivated Safety Engineer to support the development of our eVTOL aircraft program and highly integrated aerospace systems. This role will be responsible for performing and leading safety assessment activities while working closely with Systems Engineering, Systems Integration, Certification, Software, Hardware, and multidisciplinary engineering teams.
The successful candidate will help ensure that aircraft and system architecture meet safety objectives, regulatory requirements, and certification expectations throughout the product lifecycle.
The ideal candidate combines strong expertise in safety assessment methodologies with a system-thinking mindset and the ability to evaluate complex interactions across multiple aircraft systems.
Safety Assessment (Aircraft- and system-level safety analyses): Plan, perform, and maintain AFHA, SFHA, PSSA, SSA, CCA, FTA, FMEA/FMEDA, ZSA, and Particular Risk Assessments; classify hazards and failure conditions; define, allocate, validate, and verify quantitative and qualitative safety objectives, including DAL, FDAL, and IDAL; manage assumptions, dependencies, common causes, and safety certification artifacts throughout the lifecycle.
Systems Engineering (Safety requirements, architecture, and traceability): Capture, analyze, validate, and manage safety requirements; ensure bidirectional traceability from stakeholder needs and aircraft functions to architecture, implementation constraints, and verification evidence; support functional and physical architecture development, interface management, configuration control, impact assessments, trade studies, and technical decisions.
Systems Integration (Integration of complex aircraft systems): Support integration of Flight Controls, Avionics, Electrical Power, Battery, Propulsion, Communications, Navigation, and Vehicle Management Systems; assess interfaces, dependencies, failure propagation, and emergent or multi-system hazards; define integration and verification needs; support aircraft-level testing, problem resolution, and closure of safety findings.
Certification & Compliance (Safety substantiation and authority engagement): Support certification plans, means of compliance, compliance reports, safety assessments, reviews, and audits; ensure alignment with ARP4754A/B, ARP4761A, applicable FAA, EASA, and ANAC requirements, and relevant DO-178C, DO-254, and DO-160 objectives; interface with certification authorities and engineering leadership as required.
Cross-Functional Collaboration (Lifecycle coordination and technical communication): Work with Systems Engineering, Systems Integration, Certification, Software, Hardware, Reliability, Test, and multidisciplinary teams; coordinate safety inputs and evidence with internal stakeholders and suppliers; communicate risks, assumptions, uncertainties, and recommendations clearly to technical and executive decision-makers.
Education
Systems Thinking: Ability to understand how decisions made at subsystem levels affect overall aircraft behavior and safety.
