What you'll do

We're looking for a Regulatory & Compliance Lead to act as Clara’s statutory compliance officer (diretor(a) estatutário(a)) in Brazil. You will be ultimately responsible for ensuring Clara’s alignment with Bacen, COAF, and local AML/KYC regulations. This includes leading regulatory assessments, managing relationships with local authorities, and overseeing key compliance filings. You’ll also provide strategic support across teams including Fraud, Sales, Customer Support, Product, and Risk.
This is a highly visible role that demands strong judgment, autonomy, and deep familiarity with regulatory frameworks in the financial sector.

Who you are

We’re looking for someone who meets the minimum requirements to be considered for the role. The preferred qualifications are a bonus, not a requirement. Must haves

  • Proven experience in regulatory compliance, with a focus on AML, KYC, and financial governance
  • Eligibility and readiness to serve as diretor(a) estatutário(a) before Bacen
  • Strong knowledge of Bacen systems and frameworks (including Siscom)
  • Familiarity with regulatory reporting and internal governance standards
  • Demonstrated ability to assess high-risk clients and approve onboarding decisions from a compliance lens
  • Experience coordinating audits and formalizing institutional risks
  • Working proficiency in Portuguese and English
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

Nice to haves

  • Experience structuring or advising on FIDC or securitization operations
  • Familiarity with Clara’s internal processes and systems
  • Independent analytical skills using spreadsheets, SQL, or Python
  • Basic proficiency in Spanish or a desire to learn it
  • A good sense of humor

Clara’s Hybrid Policy

Claridians in a hybrid mode split their time between working from the office, talking to or visiting customers, or working from home. This hits a balance between bringing people together for in-person collaboration and learning from each other, while supporting flexibility about how to do this in a way that makes sense for each individual and team.

We don't enforce a minimum number of days for most roles, but you're expected to spend time at the office organically, and be at the office most days during your ramp-up or when required by your leader.
