Metal Toad is a fully remote company, offering all team members the ability to work from home. For this opportunity, the selected candidate must be available to work Monday to Friday, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM Pacific Time (PST).

Although Metal Toad is a remote company, we are currently seeking contractors residing in Brazil for this position. Compensation will be made in Brazilian Reais (R$), in accordance with the local currency of the country where the position is located. Due to legal limitations, we are unable to sponsor any type of visa.

Job Description

As a QA Engineer, you will ensure high standards of quality and own all QA offerings and services by leading the quality initiatives and ensuring their marketability. You will elevate risks and known issues promptly and frequently, deliver quality releases to our clients, and collaborate with teams to guarantee project success.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with development team, Project Managers, and Technical Consultants to create and implement testing plans, mitigate bugs, and maintain project standards.
• Write and maintain automated tests for user stories and features throughout the project lifecycle.
• Perform manual QA of developer work.
• Proactively communicate risks and issues as they arise to both clients and the team.
• Work independently and take ownership of testing decisions and results.
• Advocate for solutions and determine bug severity.
• Thrive in an Agile/SCRUM environment.
• Share knowledge with the company and community through blogging and/or meetups.
• Ensure tests adhere to accepted best practice guidelines, whether code-specific or framework-specific.

Expertise

• Research new techniques, technologies, and ideas.
• Share knowledge with the development team, helping them understand testing strategies and general concepts.
• Make recommendations and collaborate with colleagues (QA Engineers, Director of Technology).

Qualifications

Required

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience with full-stack testing.
• Working knowledge of CLI.
• Understanding of Git workflows and practices.

Nice to have

• Experience working with SCRUM methodologies.
• Experience with automated test suites like Cypress.
• Experience using/creating a Continuous Integration process.
