Job summary

Metals and Additives LLC is seeking a Second Shift Production Supervisor for an overnight chemical manufacturing facility. The role requires 3–5 years in manufacturing with at least 2 years in supervision, strong knowledge of batch processes, scheduling, process controls, and OSHA compliance.

Safety and Environmental Compliance

• Promote and enforce all plant safety policies, procedures, and regulations.
• Conduct routine safety observations and inspections throughout the shift.
• Ensure proper use of PPE and adherence to Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.
• Investigate incidents, near misses, and safety concerns and initiate corrective actions.
• Maintain compliance with OSHA, EPA, and company environmental requirements.

Quality Assurance

• Ensure all products meet established quality specifications.
• Verify operators follow approved SOPs, batch instructions, and work instructions.
• Coordinate with Quality Control and Laboratory personnel regarding product testing and approvals.
• Respond promptly to quality issues and implement corrective actions.

Team Leadership

• Supervise, coach, and develop production operators and leads.
• Conduct shift meetings to communicate production goals, safety topics, and operational updates.
• Provide training and crosstraining opportunities to improve workforce capabilities.
• Hold employees accountable for safety, quality, productivity, and attendance standards.
• Participate in performance evaluations and disciplinary actions when necessary.

Equipment and Maintenance Coordination

• Monitor equipment condition and identify maintenance needs.
• Coordinate with maintenance personnel to minimize downtime and prioritize repairs.
• Ensure operators perform routine equipment inspections and basic preventive maintenance tasks.
• Verify equipment is properly cleaned and prepared for production runs.

Communication and Reporting

• Provide detailed shiftend reports including:
• Production output
• Downtime events
• Equipment issues
• Safety incidents
• Quality concerns
• Staffing updates
• Communicate effectively with day shift supervisors, maintenance, quality, and management teams to ensure smooth shift transitions.
• Participate in production and operations meetings as required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 3 to 5 years of manufacturing experience in a chemical, industrial, or process manufacturing environment.
• Minimum 2 years of supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of chemical batch manufacturing processes.
• Experience with production scheduling, process control systems, and manufacturing KPIs.
• Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and process safety requirements.

Ability to wear required PPE includes safety glasses, half face respirator, hearing protection, and steel-toe boots.

Work Schedule

• Fulltime, Second Shift
• Must be available for emergency callins, plant shutdowns, and occasional weekend coverage as required.
