Job summary

Straumann Group's Development Center in Curitiba seeks a Product Development LCM Specialist to maintain and improve marketed dental implant products throughout their life cycle. You will assess changes, optimize design, drive cost improvements, and ensure regulatory compliance for FDA/ISO standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, bioengineering or related field.
• Experience with mechanical drawings.
• Experience with Vault, Inventor, SAP.
• Fluent in English.
• Experience in medical devices or highly regulated products.
• Experience in development of medical implants and instruments is an advantage.
• Experience in product development and manufacturing.
• Knowledge of MDR, FDA, ISO, ASTM standards.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership in demanding, cross-functional life cycle management projects.
• Evaluate technical solutions and conduct feasibility studies for product and design changes, maintenance, optimization, and cost-improvement opportunities.
• Translate user needs, Operations requirements, and product-performance needs into change specifications.
• Lead verification and validation (V&V) activities.
• Participate in design transfer activities.
• Assess business opportunities linked to design modifications, COGS reduction, and cost improvements.
• Lead root cause investigations related to marketed products, manufacturing, or performance issues.
• Support Operations in the implementation, maintenance, and optimization of marketed products.
• Maintain Design History File (DHF) documentation for life cycle management activities.

The Product Development LCM Specialist at the Straumann Development Center, plays a crucial role in ensuring the ongoing success of dental implant products that are already released and available on the market. This role focuses on maintaining, improving, optimizing, and supporting products throughout their commercial life cycle. This includes evaluating product and design changes, assessing design optimization opportunities, and identifying COGS and cost improvement opportunities. The specialist performs technical assessments for product and design changes and ongoing product improvements, ensuring continued compliance with regulatory standards. Collaboration with dentists, engineers, materials scientists, and Operations is essential for addressing clinical needs, manufacturing requirements, product performance, and market demands. Additionally, the role includes preparing and updating technical and product documentation for life cycle activities and regulatory submissions to ensure compliance with FDA and ISO standards. The specialist supports root cause investigations, using feedback and operational information to implement continuous improvements and maintain product reliability and user satisfaction.

What do you need to have or know?

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, bioengineering, or a related field


• Knowledge and experience in mechanical technical drawing.


• Knowledge and experience with the Vault system.


• Knowledge and experience with the Inventor system.


• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.


• Familiarity with SAP.


• Fluently in english


• Solid experience in areas related to the development of medical devices or other highly regulated products


• Experience in the development of medical implants and instruments is an advantage.


• Solid experience in product development and manufacturing.


• Strong knowledge of applicable standards and regulations (MDR, FDA, ISO, ASTM).
