A leading global engineering firm is seeking a Principal ROV Specialist in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. This role requires extensive expertise in ROV solutions and a minimum of 10 years' experience in offshore remote subsea system design. Responsibilities include overseeing ROV requirements on projects, conducting audits of contractor operations, and ensuring compliance with industry guidelines. The successful candidate will be well-versed in subsea technology and be able to effectively liaise with clients and contractors during both onshore and offshore operations.

Qualificações

  • Minimum 10 years in offshore remote subsea system design and operations.
  • Min. 8 years of experience supporting construction projects.
  • Previous offshore experience and proven experience working with ROVs.

Job Overview

The Principal ROV Specialist interprets internal or external business issues and recommends best practices. They will be tasked with solving complex ROV (Mar)-related problems and will work independently with minimal guidance. The Principal ROV Specialist may be responsible for leading functional teams or projects and is regarded as a specialist in ROV (Mar). As such, they must have in-depth expertise in ROV (Mar) as well as broad knowledge of the ROV (Mar) discipline within the Marine function.

Essential Qualifications and Education
  • Degree in Engineering
  • Minimum 10 years in offshore remote subsea system design and operations
  • Min. 8 years of experience supporting construction projects
  • Good command of English both oral and written
  • Proficient in the use of subsea ROV & ROV tooling systems
  • Previous offshore experience
  • Proven experience working with ROVs and tooling packs
  • Willingness to travel
  • Extensive knowledge/expertise in Subsea Remote Systems design, functioning, and operation (ROV, ROV Tooling, subsea architecture, connectors, flying leads…)
  • Extensive knowledge/expertise in the design, functioning, and operation of remote subsea tooling associated with ROV and subsea hardware operation
  • Good Project Engineering skills and experience
  • Previous knowledge in dealing with ROV and Subsea EPC contractors
  • Good understanding of QHSE
  • Proficient knowledge of technical software: AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor
  • Proficient knowledge of project software: Microsoft Project, Microsoft Office
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
  • Oversee ROV requirements on assigned project
  • Oversee ROV Tooling Requirements
  • Oversee Commissioning Tooling Requirements
  • Carry out ROV access studies and checks
  • Desktop studies
  • Ensure efficient and excellent integration of the subsea interfaces of SURF project to the marine operations execution
Deliverables
  • Conduct live audits of ROV contractor's premises/offshore in conjunction with Marine QHSE and provide feedback on system and personnel performance/opportunities for improvement
  • Ensure ROV contractors comply with statutory and IMCA guidelines
  • Prepare ROV contractor mobilization audits to ensure readiness/compliance with contract specifications
  • Liaison with Clients / ROV contractors both on and offshore to confirm operational status
  • Research and assessment of latest ROV techniques/equipment so MDR remains up to date and for possible inclusion into Marine Operations/standards
Project Deliverables
  • Issue installation procedure for subsea hardware installation/operation
  • Issue equipment/material specifications for remote subsea tooling and installation aids
  • Provide expertise to the project team to review the subsea installation philosophy of the main subsea components (flexible, umbilical, suction pile, manifold, SDU, and flying lead installation) and proper implementation into the installation procedure
  • Provide input to subsea Pre-Commissioning / Commissioning activities for key contractors
  • Manage interface with subsea hardware EPC contractor and review subsea material delivered to enable a smooth integration of all supplied subsea components into the installation method
  • Ensure that the EPC Contractor meets the technical quality and timely delivery of their deliverables
  • Provide technical / construction support as part of the subsea team in dealing with key vendors
  • Participate in Installation Constructability Reviews and HAZID’s
  • Ensure that the offshore execution is performed safely, timely, and as efficiently as possible, providing quality reporting throughout the offshore period

  • Functional: Director ROV Operations
  • Regional: MAO And Senior Manager Marine Operations
  • Project/Construction Manager when assigned to the project
  • Supervises: Ops Engineers/Field Engineers/Draftspersons
  • Liaise with: All Marine operations personnel, functional managers, Engineering design teams, project engineering, tendering teams, procurement/subcontract coordinators, and clients
