JOB DESCRIPTION

Our client is seeking an experienced Operations Manager to coordinate various department operations of Innovation Manufacturing to ensure the consistent production of products and services of the highest quality to meet or exceed customer satisfaction including scheduling shop work and communicating with customer service regarding customer work.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work directly with department coordinators to ensure their areas are running efficiently and they have the appropriate personnel and equipment to meet deadlines.
  • Responsible for monitoring the work of all manufacturing departments by working with the Department Coordinators and Department Service Representatives. Determine which jobs will be completed and in what priority. Assist in adjusting schedules according to rush jobs and personnel.
  • Review customer invoices prior to being sent and ensure charges are accurate. Send them to the Director of Manufacturing for final approval.
  • Work with Department Coordinators to ensure that all areas’ work is flowing according to schedule in order to meet job deadlines. If necessary, adjust departments’ work according to department and customer needs.
  • Ensure Department Coordinators are current on their inventory counts for smooth workflow of jobs.
  • Participate in and ensure Department Coordinators are conducting weekly safety meetings with their area(s).
  • Review job log to ensure completed jobs are closed out. Review active jobs and create a backlogged list. Determine how to address the backlogged work.
  • Work with Department Coordinators to ensure quality is being met in the shop. Determine issues and work with the Quality Department to help resolve if quality measures are below standards.
  • Fill in for the Director of Manufacturing in his / her absence.
  • Partner with other managers, supervisors, foreman, employees, and office personnel to coordinate a smooth workflow.
  • Coordinate the purchase of tools, materials, and equipment within each departmental budget to ensure an efficient and effective department.
  • Work with Department Coordinators to ensure tools and equipment are available and in good working condition in order to work efficiently and effectively. If repair work is needed, coordinate work with maintenance or specific vendors.
  • Complete and deliver employee performance reviews for direct reports.
  • Conduct performance corrective counseling in consultation with the Manager and / or Human Resources as needed.
  • Communicate clearly, concisely, and with accuracy to employees, customers, and vendors.
Desired Qualifications

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent. Associates degree in mechanical and / or electrical discipline a plus.

Experience

  • Seven years general shop experience.
  • Four years in a supervision and / or leadership position in a machine shop or similar environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, organizational, and problem solving skills.
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to multitask while coordinating multiple high level priorities.
  • Strong knowledge of personal computers and Microsoft Office software.
  • Ability to foster good employee / management relations and build a strong team effort to fulfill customers’ expectations.
  • Ability to promote teamwork and direct work of employees.
  • Ability to train and mentor employees.
  • Ability to read, write, and comprehend complex written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to understand, perform, and retain various job related training, operational, and safety procedures.
  • Ability to exercise initiative, judgment, and decision making related to non-routine duties.
  • Overnight travel may be required.
Compensation Information
  • $35,000 BRL per month.
