AKRON GLOBAL SCHOOL is seeking a School Nurse to support student health, promote wellbeing, and manage health needs in a caring environment.

You will collaborate with students, families, and staff to monitor health conditions, administer medications, and develop preventive health initiatives.

The ideal candidate holds a Nursing degree, COREN registration, and experience in pediatrics or school settings, with strong English communication.

Qualificações

• Bachelor's degree in Nursing and COREN registration are required.
• Experience providing first aid and emergency care is essential.
• Fluency in English (oral and written) is required for school communication.
• Prior experience in a school or pediatric setting is preferred.
• Additional training in emergency care, first aid, and health education is desirable.
• Experience developing health prevention initiatives is a plus.

Responsabilidades

Job description

We are looking for a School Nurse to work closely with students, families, and the school team, contributing to health promotion, risk prevention, and the management of health needs that may arise in the school environment.

The School Nurse will play a central role in building a culture of care, prevention, and well‑being, working with attentiveness, compassion, responsibility, and integrity. The professional will also be responsible for monitoring clinical cases, providing guidance to the nursing team, and establishing and overseeing protocols and procedures related to school health.

Main responsibilities

• Provide first aid and other nursing care required within the school environment, in accordance with professional scope of practice and established protocols.
• Manage and administer medications in accordance with prescriptions, authorizations, and procedures established by the school.
• Monitor students with medical conditions, including those with chronic conditions or specific health needs, and ensure appropriate follow‑up.
• Supervise and provide guidance to the Nursing Technician, ensuring compliance with established protocols and best practices in student care.
• Maintain accurate, organized, and confidential medical records and documentation of student care and incidents.
• Ensure appropriate monitoring and up‑to‑date information regarding students’ health conditions and individualized care plans, when applicable.
• Develop health prevention and promotion initiatives in partnership with the academic teams and families.
• Provide guidance to teachers and staff regarding specific health‑related needs, warning signs, and appropriate procedures for supporting students.
• Liaise with healthcare institutions and healthcare professionals, when necessary, to coordinate referrals, follow‑up, and guidance.
• Ensure compliance with applicable health regulations, sanitation requirements, biosafety standards, and school health protocols.
• Monitor and maintain up‑to‑date records of students’ dietary restrictions, allergies, and other relevant health information related to food and nutrition.
• Support the development, implementation, and ongoing review of protocols related to first aid, emergencies, health, and safety within the school environment.
• Participate in training sessions and educational initiatives focused on prevention, first aid, health, and the well‑being of the school community.

Requirements and skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing.
• Active registration with the Regional Nursing Council (COREN).
• Demonstrated experience providing first aid and emergency care.
• Fluency in English, with strong oral and written communication skills in professional and school settings.
• Commitment to the school’s Christian values and educational mission.
• Previous experience in a school or pediatric setting.
• Additional training or certification in emergency care, first aid, and health education.
• Experience or demonstrated ability in developing and implementing health prevention and promotion initiatives.
